Ippu Nishizawa kept a publishing house in Osaka. All joruri staged at the Toyotakeza theater were published by him. Late in the Genroku Era (around 1700) he wrote many ukiyo zoshi, or novels, modeled after Saikaku Ihara but turned to joruri writing (1723-1724).
