Mansfield, Ira Franklin was born on June 27, 1842 in Poland, Ohio, United States. Son of Isaac Kirtland and Lois (Morse) Mansfield.

Graduate Poland College, 1861.

Career

Enlisted 1862, 105th Ohio Volumes, serving to close of war. Promoted orderly sergeant, Second lieutenant, First lieutenant, and promoted captain and a.-q.-m. 14th Army Corps at Atlanta, Georgia.

Took part in Sherman’s march to the sea and in Grand Review in Washington, 1865.

Bought, 1865, and has since operated cannel coal mines at Cannelton, Beaver Company, Pennsylvania. President Shenango and Beaver Valley Rys., Rochester National Bank, Greensburg Academy, 25 years, 5 terms.

10 years member Pennsylvania Legislature.
