Saburova, Irina was born in 1905.
After the Civil War, lived in Latvia and wrote for the local Russianlanguage press in Riga. During World War II, moved to Germany, where she lived in DP camps. Became one of the most popular women writers of Russian literature in the West.
Her novel, KorabliStarogo Goroda, about life in pre-war Riga, was translated into several languages. Lived near Munich, worked for Radio Liberty in the 1950s and 1960s.
