Background

Stephenson, Isaac was born on June 18, 1829 in Fredericton, N.B. Son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Watson) Stephenson.

Education

Went, in 1840, to Bangor, Maine, and a year later to Wisconsin. Worked on farm; common school education. Bought a schooner, which he sailed between Milwaukee and Escanaba.

Invested his savings in timber lands. Now president and controlling owner in the N. Ludington Company, The Stephenson Company, Stephenson National Bank.

Worked on farm.
