Career
In Iowa, returned to Indiana, admitted to Indiana bar, 1851. Early contributor to periodicals. Was prominent in anti-slavery and temperance reforms.
Edited The True Republican, Centreville, Indiana, and later Richmond, Indiana, 1858-1872.
Removed to San Marcos, Texas, 1873. Edited there Free Press 17 years, later the People's Era until June 1900.
Author: Sketches of the Early History of the Whitewater Valley, 1857. Late-Gathered Leaves in Verse and Prose.
