Educated locally, then at Khartoum. In June 1959 he joined government service as an assistant game preservation officer. In 1965 he qualified from a course at the Institute of Public Administration in Khartoum. In 1966 he was sent to Tanzania where he completed a course in wildlife manageement at Mweka College in 1968.
On his return he was appointed Inspector of game preservation in the Northern Province and then transferred three years later to the Southern Region. He was put in charge of a new department under Mading de Garang, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in the South. He has given priority to improving hotels and rest houses and game facilities as a means of attracting tourists and hard currency to the South.
Wildlife expert assigned to a new department after the Addis Ababa agreement of February 1972 ended the 17-year in the South. A man with an imaginative approach, being encouraged to pave the way for the development of tourism in the South.
