Isaku Nishimura graduated from the Meido Middle School in Hiroshima.
Isaku Nishimura founded the Bunka Gakuin School in Tokyo known as a progressive institution. Participating in the foundation of the school were Hiroshi Yosano and his wife, Akiko, both waka poets, Kyoshi Takahama, haiku poet, and Kosgak (Ksaku) Yamada, composer. Because of its professed liberalism, it was forced to close during World War II. It was reopened after the war, with Nishimura as its director. He is also a writer on cultural and educational matters.
