Ishikawa Hanzan was born in 1872.
After graduating from Keio University joined the editorial staff of Chub Shimbun. Later Ishikawa Hanzan became chief editor of Mancho-ho and earned a reputation of being a fearless critic and an authority on China. Stayed in Peking for five years. Made several visits to Europe and America and was decorated by the King of Belgium. Entering politics was elected to the Diet on a Kenseikai Party ticket (1924).
