In "Tides", his third novel, Okpewho raises several questions: where does one stand in a contest between personal interest and public good? Between ethnic goals and the national agenda? Between professional ethics and state security? The book is part of the "Longman African Writers" series which was launched in 1987 to complement "Longman African Classics". This series features new work by successful authors and first works of a high literary standard by new authors. The book is aimed at the general readers with an interest in Afro / Caribbean literature and at senior and university level.
