Background
Islay Ferrier was born on the twenty-first of February, 1867 in Glasgow, Scotland. Christina Watt was his mother. On the eighth of October, 1887 Islay Ferrier arrived in China. Most of his life he lived and worked in Nanking. Also, he traveled widely in Manchuria before the Railway was built.
