Background
Itchu Miyake was born in Kyoto, Japan. He was the second son of Chief Priest Shui of Meifukuji Temple, became chief priest of that temple in 1669. Turned over the temple to his son and returned to secular life under the name Semboku Suga and devoted himself to music.
