Iulii Vorontsov, USSR Diplomat.


Vorontsov, Iulii was born in 1929.


Graduated from the MGIMO (Institute of International Relations), Moscow, 1952.


Occupied top positions in the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Member of the Soviet Delegation to the United Nations, 1954-1958 and 1963-1965. Councillor at the USSR Embassy in the USA, 1966-1970.

USSR Ambassador to India, 1977. 1st Deputy Foreign Minister, 1987. Special responsibility for the arms control negotiations in Geneva, 1987.

Ambassador in Afghanistan, 10 October 1988.
