Took part in the human rights movement in the USSR connected with the Helsinki accords. Spent 15 years in the Gulag camps and exile. First arrested in 1963, sentenced to 3 years in the labour camps.
Second arrest for dissident activity, 1967, sentenced to 5 years imprisonment. Sent to a psychiatric hospital, 1972. In 1977 released and emigrated.
Lives in West Germany, active in dissident and human rights groups in Western Europe. Described his camps experience in samizdat works.
