Career
1927 first work published. From 1928 taught history of for lit at Institute of Red Professor and other educational institutions. Director, Gorky Institute of World Literature, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences from 1952.
1954 visited Switzerland with deleg of Soviet cultural figures. From 1960 cd, journal Literatumoye nasledstvo. Member, Lenin Prize Committee for Literature and Art, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Council of Minister
