Graduated from Petersburg University, 1910.

Career

Professor of Tbilisi University, 1919. Head of the Institute of Physiology of the Georgian Academy of Sciences, 1935-1952. The Institute was later renamed in his honour.

Honorary member of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1959. Carried out research into muscle and nervous system physiology.
