GAYDAENKO, Ivan was born in 1914 in village Semiozernoe, now Kustanay Oblast.
1932 graduated Odessa Marine Training School.
Sailor, then helmsman on long distance routes. 1936 on the steamer “Communist Youth League” which was taking supplies to the Communist troops in Spain. The ship was sunk in the Mediterranean and the crew taken into captivity.
1939 released from captivity and returned to USSR. Since 1939 journalist. 1941-1945 officer, Black Sea Fleet and Volga Naval Flotilla.
After demobilization corresponding, newspaper “Molod Ukraini” (Ukrainian Youth).
