Ivan Timofeevich Nazarov

Background

Ivan was born on January 28, 1880 in Chibizovka, Borisoglebsk district, Tambov province, Russian Empire (nowadays Russian Federation).

Education

He graduated from the College of Music (1904, Kiev). He was engaged in the theory of composition with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov (1904). He graduated from the Petersburg Conservatory (1905, class violin) as an external student.

Career

Lecturer of the Zemstvo teacher's school (since 1907, St. Petersburg). Course leader on the improvement of musician performers (1910-1920). He worked in educational institutions and theaters of Petrograd, Moscow, and Yerevan on the problems of music performance technique (since 1920). Head of the theoretical course at the Leningrad Conservatory (1940-1941, 1946-1951).
