From 1915 Russian Army. Nco in World War 1; 1917 member, regt comt, then company commander. October 1918 volunteered for Red Army.
1918-1921 commanded platoon, then company. From 1924 various commands in Centr Asian Military district. Fought against Basmachi.
1932-1937 commander, mountain infantry regt. 1937-1938 admin work with distr staff. 1938-1941 military comissar, Kir Soviet Socialist Republic.
From July 1941 commander, 316th Infantry Division (17 November 1941 expanded into 8th Guards Infantry Division). Fought in defense of Moscow and on Volokolamsk sector.
