1909-October 1917 type-setter in various towns. Party work in Moscow. Subjected to reprisals by Trarist authorities.
After 1917 October Revol trade-union work. Secretary and deputy chairman, Southern Bureau, All-Russian Centr Trade-Union Council. 1922 political work in Red Army.
Later chairman, Belorussian Centr Trade-Union Council. Secretary, Far Eastern Kray All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Committee, secretary, All-Union Centr Trade-Union Council. From 1934 head, Polit Department, October Railroad, 1921-1922 sided with “Workers’ Opposition” group.
1930 elected candidate member, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks). Arrested by State Security organs.
