Modellers’ Union; 1918 regt comissar, Kazan’ Front. Then commander of a punitive detachment and chairman, field tribunal. Returned from front and held various executive government posts.
1919 deputy chairman, Rybinsk Executive Committee. 1920-1921 chairman, Yaroslavl’ Province Executive Committee. 1921-1922 deputy chairman, Caucasian Province Revol Committee.

At 12th Party Congress elected candidate member, at 13th and 17th Party Congresses elected member, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks).
