Background
He came from a peasant family. His father, Kanstantsin Stsyapanovich, was killed in 1945 at the front during the attack of Kenninsberg. His mother, Volgha Paulauna, lived in her native village, worked at a kolkhoz (collective farm).

In 1947 I. Stadolnik went into the first grade of Yankovskaya primary school.
After finishing of secondary school in Dokshytsy (1959) Ivan worked at a kolkhoz (collective farm) named after Suvorov in Dokshytsy district as a stoker on new lands (at the Kupryianauka station of Ruzaevsky district, Kakchatausky
region), but when he returned, he worked again at a collective farm, after that Ivan Kanstantsinovitch worked as a librarian at Berezovskaya library, Dokshytsky district. In 1960 he entered Polotsk medical college, the dental
surgery faculty, and graduated it in 1963. Till 1967 Ivan was a dentist at Mosar village hospital, Glyboksky district. At the same time he studied by correspondence at the faculty of journalism at BSU (1965-1971). In 1967-71 he
was an executive secretary, since 1971 – the head of agricultural department at Polotsk united newspaper “Styagh
Kamunizmu”. Since 1980 he worked as an editor of of the literature department, 1984 – executive secretary of "Vozhyk" magazine, and since October 1991 – executive secretary of "Teatralnaya Belarus" magazine.
His first poems where written in his school years. His first verse "Z novym ghodam" was published on 1/1/1960 in Dokshytzy district newspaper "Leninskaya trybuna". Later, since 1962 I. Stadolnik’s poems were printed in newspapers "Literatura i Mastatstva", "Chyrvona Zmena", 'Vitsebsky rabochy", "Piyaner Belarusi”, in the collections “Slova ab rodnaj pryrodze”. In 1967 his first humoresque – “Pratatyp” was placed in “Vozhyk” magazine, and in 1971 was printed his first narrative. Author of collected books of satire and humor “Yak tut ne smyayatstsa”, “Listapad na pachatku leta”, of the narratives “Hachu tabe shchastsya”. In his satirical poems and prose works he expresess his significant social
position,uncompromising attitude to various anti-social attitudes, idlers were ridiculed, opporunists, toadies, drunkards. He can rise above the fact ordinary, everyday and focus on the important moral and ethical issues. He
finds his “characters” in the thick of life.
Sense of humor and wit help the writer in wide and close revealing the characters. Certain humoresques were translated into Lithuanian, Russian, Ukrainian. Certain poems by I. Stadolnik were used by D. Lukas and M. Petrenko to make songs. Ivan Stadolnik is the author of numerous poems signatures on campaign posters.
