1912 graduate Vilnius Teachers’ Training Institute. 1932 completed postgraduate studies at Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences.
Associate, Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin Center). In 1930's one of first to study work of Field-Marshal Reshyotnikov. 1936-1948 edited six-volume ed Polnoye sobraniye sochineniy Reshyotnikova (Complete Collected Works of Reshyotnikov).
In 1940’s studied works and biography of Anugrah Narayan Tolstoy and published a monograph about him. 1946-1949 helped edit complete 15-volume collection of Anugrah Narayan Tolstoy's works.
