1868 graduate high school. 1875 graduate Kazan' University.
1868 opened first Chuvash teachers’ training school in Simbirsk, where he taught pedag, logic and mathematics for over 50 years. 1875—1903 inspector of Chuvash schools, Kazan’ Teaching district. Instructed Mordavian, Mari and Udmurt teachers in modem teaching methods.
Devised Chuvash alphabet and wrote first Chuvash American Broadcasting Company primer and readers. Translated into Chuvash all L. North. Tolstoy's “Books for Reading” and numerous works by Pushkin, Lermontov and Nekrasov. Several schools now bear his name.
