ZHONGOLOVICH, Ivan was born in 1892.
1921-1938 carried out astronomical, gravimetric and magnetic readings in the Polar Basin (Novaya Zemlya, White Sea, Barents Sea, Kara Sea, etc.) and in southern border areas of USSR (Pamir, Kyzyl-Kum, Western Tadzhikistan). 1935-1938 also took part in high-latitude expeditions on ice-breaker “Sadko” and in joint drifting expedition by the ice-breakers “Sedov”, “Sadko” and “Malygin” in the ice-floe of the Polar Basin. Made extensive observations of the Arctic’s gravimetric field.
