In 1974, Ivan Krikun graduated from the faculty of architecture at Voronezh Agricultural Institute (under O.V. Berezin) (Voronezh State Agricultural University named after Peter the Great now).
Since 1975 to 1998 Ivan Krikun worked as an architect, chief project architect, department head of the Novorossiysk branch of the Institute Krasnodargrazhdanproyekt (Novorosgrazhdanproyekt since 1985). Since 1998 to 2003 he was Novorossiysk's chief architect. Since 2003 he has been working as chief architect of "Novorosgrazhdanproyekt OAO" (Open Joint-stock Company).
Ivan Krikun is an author of Novorossiysk general layout (as a member of a team), quay redevelopment project, monuments reconstruction project (monumets to Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin, to founders of Novorossiysk), and the project on rebuilding of the column with the Sea Glory sculpture. He is the winner of all-Russian and regional review contests. In 2000 he became Honored Architect of Kuban. In 2005 Ivan Alekseevich was awarded a medal by Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences.
