Ivan Nikolaevich Barancheev

Background

Ivan Barancheev was born on November 5, 1832, in Kashira, Moscow region, Russian Federation and belonged to a noble family. His father was a retired captain. The boy was orphaned early and raised by relatives.

Education

Ivan Nikolaevich studied at Moscow University but did not finish the course. In the late 1850s at the insistence of relatives was drafted into military service as a cadet.

Career

Ivan Nikolaevich was a military man, took part in The Caucasian War (1817-1864), after a protracted illness, he resigned as a lieutenant.
