Scout platoon foot reconnaissance infantry regiment (38th Army, 4th Ukrainian Front) distinguished himself in battles in the areas of the village of Kudynovcy (Zborovsky the Ternopil region, the Ukrainian SSR), the cities of Krosna, Krakow (Poland). In 1946, Sergeant Sergeant Garshin was demobilized.
In 1974 he went on a well-deserved rest. He lived and worked in Moscow, later - in Chelyabinsk.
