Iyemasa received his education at the University of Tokyo in 1909.
He entered Diplomatic Service in 1909. Since 1910, he was attached to Japanese Embassy in London. In 1912-1918 he served in the Foreign Office in Tokyo. In 1914-1915 he was a private secretary to the minister for foreign affairs. Since 1918, he became a second secretary in Peking. He was appointed first secretary of Japanese Legation in 1919.
