Mythological character. According to ancient mythology she was the wife of Izanagi-no-Mikoto and the mother of 〇ya- shima (eight islands of Japan) and many gods and goddesses. The legend says that wherj she died her husband came to visit her in Hades, but she was enraged at seeing him because of the vows he had broken. She set she-devils to chase him and joined in the pursuit herself but was stopped at Hirazaka in Hades
