He worked there for a year. In 1968 he was an assistant manager at the Royal Bank in Fort St. James, Canada. He held this position until 1969. From 1969 to 1973 he was a credit officer in the Canadian loans head office of the Royal Bank. In this years he became a manager of the management and personal development at the Royal Bank in Montreal, Canada. He worked there for three years. From 1976 to 1978 Emilien worked as a senior assistant, manager at the Main branch of the Royal Bank in Montrea, Canada. In this year he became a deputy manager. He held this position until 1979.

From 1979 to 1982 he worked as a Vice-president of the eastern United States of America of the Royal Bank in New York City, United States. In this year he became a managing director of the Belgian Bank for Industry in Belgium. In 1985 he was a Senior Vice-president of the World Corporation Banking in the United Kingdom. He worked there until 1986.

From 1986 to 1988 Emilien was a Senior Vice-president, chief inspector of the World Corporation Banking in the United Kingdom. In this year he became an Executive Vice-president of finance. He worked there for two years. In 1990 he was a Vice-president, chief financial officer of the World Corporation Banking in United Kingdom. He held this position until 1994. In 1994 he became a Vice-chairman, chief financial officer of the Royal Bank of Canada in Montreal, Canada. He held this position until 1997. Since 1997 Emilien worked as a Vice-chairman at the Royal Bank of Canada in Montreal, Canada.
