J. Bradley worked as a partner of Bradley & Bradley, a law firm in Georgetown, Kentucky, where his practice centered on general practice law. The firm's office was in the Bradley Building on Main Street, in the downtown district of the city.
Georgetown was settled in the 1780s near Royal Spring, a reliable water source that lay where overland routes used by settlers crossed. Its early commerce included hemp rope making, tobacco handling, and inns serving travelers. When Kentucky became a state in 1792, George Town, as the city was then called, became the principal city of Scott County; its name was officially changed to Georgetown in 1846.
The downtown area has notable architectural heritage, and a walking tour of its residential and commercial buildings includes more than 300 structures listed in the National Register of Historic Places. In recent decades Georgetown has grown rapidly, a development associated with the nearby Toyota plant and the employment it provides.
