In 1948 Jack Barry Bresler received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Denver. In 1952 he obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Oklahoma. In 1957 Bresler gained a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Illinois. From 1970 to 1974 he was a special student at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
From 1954 to 1955 Jack Barry Bresler worked as an intern instructor at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. From 1955 to 1957 he was an assistant professor at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, and at Brown University in Providence, from 1957 to 1962. From 1962 to 1964 he was an associate professor at Boston University, and a research director from 1964 to 1966.
From 1966 to 1976 he worked as an assistant provost at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts, an associate professor from 1966 to 1976. From 1976 to 1977 he was a specialist at Head Life science section at Special assignment Arts and Humanities in Congressional Research Service at the Library of Congress in Washington.
From 1978 to 1980 he worked as an independent consultant. In 1980 he worked as a chief of science review of research and development in Virginia, Washington. From 1980 to 1986 he was a senior program analyst.
Since 1986 he has been a private practice consultant. From 1957 to 1963 he served as a consultant at the United States Public Health Service. From 1973 to 1976 he has been a member of the Board of visitors at the Museum of Fine Arts.
From 1972 to 1974 he was a consultant of biological education in developing nations at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, at the United States Public Health Service in 1986, at the National Mortality Survey at the Department of Health and Human Services, from 1984 to 1986. From 1973 to 1976 he was a co-chairman of the Board of visitors at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Massachusetts.
He is the author of Human Ecology (1966), Environments of Man (1968), Genetics and Society (1973), Nursing Home Care Needs of Veterans (1990). He is a contributor of articles to professional journals.
