Career
Born in New Ross, County, Russell first excelled at hurling in his youth. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior panel during the 1970 championship.
He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions.
At club level Russell enjoyed a lengthy career with Geraldine O"Hanrahan"son Throughout his inter-county career Russell made 7 championship appearances foreign
His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1983 championship.
