Began with Sioux City (Iowa) Journal, 1894, and continued in various cities of Iowa for 8 years. Reporter Washington Times, 1902-1903. With Associated Press, 1903-1938 (honorarily retired).
Assigned to all major political convs. and directed Associated Press reportorial staffs, 1904-1924. Manager Congress staff, Associate Press, 1909-1911, chief of staff of Washington office, 1911-1912, and superintendent eastern division, New York, 1912-1915. Resumed direction of Washington bureau, June 1915, and also in charge of Southern division until March 1918, when became chief of the news department at New York.
