After arriving in the United States Mr. Daverman settled in Grand Rapids and opened his own office. In 1895 he was joined by his son Herman, and continued that association the rest of his life.
The firm of Daverman & Son was active in designing several schools, churches and a number of County buildings, their best known works being the Widdicomb and East Linwood Schools in Grand Rapids, the Otsego (Mich.) School, and the Emmet County Court House at Petoskey. The Davermans were also known as pioneers in the Mail Order business of selling house plans, and at one time it was necessary to employ fifty draftsmen to take care of their orders.
