Studied at private school; Richmond College; graduated Bachelor of Arts, London University, 1867; Master of Arts (in mental and moral science, fifth in list), 1882; prizeman in Hebrew and New Testament Greek. A Wesleyan minister in London, Waterloo, and Southport, 1867-1883.
Ordained Deacon by Bishop Lightfoot of Durham, 1883; Priest, by Bishop Harold Browne of Winchester, 1884; Curate of St. Augustine, Southampton, 1883-1885; of Alverstoke, with charge of Christ Church, 1885-1888; Vicar of Forton, and Sub-Warden of St. Thomas Home, 1888-1910; Surrogate, 1889; Rural Dean of Alverstoke, 1901-1910.
Member of the Councils of St. Thomas Home, Diocesan Society, Board of Education, and Central Council of Voluntary Schools, also of the Consultative Committee of the National Society, London.
