White, Jacob Lee was born on September 6, 1862 in Forsyth County, North Carolina, United States. Son of Jacob and Martha Ellen (Grubbs) White.


Preparatory education Shelby (North Carolina) Academy. A.M., Wake Forest (North Carolina) College, 1886. Doctor of Divinity, Mercer U., 1898, Wake Forest, 1900. Honorary Doctor of Laws, John B. Stetson University, 1934.


Ordained ministry Baptist Church, 1884. Pastor successively First Church, Raleigh.

Durham, Asheville, North Carolina, Macon. Georgia, Greensboro, North Carolina, Central Church, Memphis, Tennessee, Tabernacle, Atlanta, Georgia., until 1916, First Church, Miami. Florida, 1916-April 1936.

Has received into membership of First Church more than 4,000. Accepted pastorate of First Baptist Church, Madison, Florida, March 1938. Retired as honorary pastor, November 1940.

Now conducting Bible Conferences. Conductor of Southern Bible Conference, Miami, since 1918. Chaplain 2d Regiment, Georgia Vols., Spanish-American War.

Camp pastor, Miami, World War, also chairman Home Service Committee American Red Cross. Trustee Mercer U., Bessie Tift College, Stetson U. Vice president Foreign Mission Board, Southern Baptist Convention, 20 years.
