Jacqueline E. Camp is an American lawyer whose practice centers on corporate and debt finance. She began her career at Ropes & Gray in Boston in 1988 and later became a corporate finance partner at Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Education
Camp earned a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Virginia in 1985, graduating with highest distinction while serving as an Echols Scholar and receiving Phi Beta Kappa membership. The university was founded in 1819 by Thomas Jefferson in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the Echols Scholars Program is an honors program for undergraduates with strong academic records. Phi Beta Kappa, founded in 1776 at the College of William & Mary, is among the oldest American honor societies devoted to the liberal arts and sciences.
She then attended Harvard Law School, where she received a Juris Doctor cum laude in 1988. Founded in 1817, Harvard Law School is generally regarded as the oldest continuously operating law school in the United States. Her admission to the Massachusetts bar in 1988 marked the start of her legal practice in Boston.
Career
Camp's professional career began in 1988, the year she was admitted to the Massachusetts bar, when she started her corporate practice at Ropes & Gray in Boston. The firm was founded in Boston in 1865 by John Codman Ropes and John Chipman Gray, both Harvard Law School graduates, and it became one of the oldest established law firms in the city. At Ropes & Gray she served as a partner, advising public and private companies in a range of sectors on matters from public company reporting to corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.
In the late 1990s she narrowed her practice to debt financing, representing both lenders and borrowers in debt finance transactions. Her clients have included private equity companies, non-traditional lenders, governmental agencies, and business clients of the firm. Her transactional work also covers local and cross-border equity offerings, leveraged buyouts, and acquisition finance.
Her later career is associated with Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, whose American predecessor, Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, was established in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1876. Womble Carlyle combined with the United Kingdom firm Bond Dickinson in 2017 to form the transatlantic firm Womble Bond Dickinson. Camp practices there as a corporate finance partner from the firm's Greensboro office.
