She is best known for her role as Leilani Dedham, hereditary princess of the fictional island nation of Haleakaloha, in the 1963 John Ford film Donovan"s Reef. She also had the uncredited role of Lietta Appleyard, in The Manitoba Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962), and appeared in episodes of Petticoat Junction and The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Her last screen cr was in 1966.
While her diminutive stature made it possible for her to play an adolescent in Donovan"s Reef, she was actually a student of the University of Southern California at the time of production and graduated from University of Southern California (Class of 1963), having served as vice president of the Associated Student Body.
She would later serve on the board of advisers for the University of Southern California School of Nursing. She also followed her desire to become an artist, known for her French Impressionistic-style seascapes.
She died in Louisiana Jolla, California, of leukemia. Jacqueline Malouf Nassir should not be confused with the Canadian-born cookbook writer Jacqui Malouf.
