Education
Deschamps studied at the Sorbonne, receiving a doctorate of the university in 1728. He then served as parish priest of Dangu, in the diocese of Rouen, for 31 years until his death.

In 1731, under the pseudonym Morel Deschamps, his Archbishop posted him on a secret mission to London for King Louis XV. Doctor Deschamps is the author of various theological treatises, including a celebrated translation of the Book of Isaiah from Hebrew into French.
