Career
He is currently playing for the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League (WHL) as a prospect to the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (National Hockey League). DeBrusk was drafted 14th overall by the Bruins in the 2015 National Hockey League Entry Draft. DeBrusk was selected in the 7th round by the Swift Current Broncos at the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft.
During the 2014-2015 WHL season he was rewarded for his outstanding play when he was selected to take part in the 2015 CHL/National Hockey League Top Prospects Game.
Following the 2014-2015 WHL season in which he scored 81 points in 72 games with the Swift Current Broncos, DeBrusk was ranked number 19 by the National Hockey League Central Scouting Bureau on their list of North American Skaters eligible for the 2015 National Hockey League Entry Draft. Expected to be drafted late in the first round, the Boston Bruins picked DeBrusk 14th overall.
During the 2015-2016 season, DeBrusk was signed to a three-year entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins on November 12, 2015. On December 26, 2015, DeBrusk was traded from the Swift Current Broncos to the Red Deer Rebels.
His father is former National Hockey League player Louie DeBrusk.
