Jacob David "Jake" Simpson is an English football player who currently plays for Northern League Division One outfit Celtic Nation F.C.
Background
Having played in the youth teams for Blackburn Rovers, he moved to Shrewsbury Town, where his father Paul was manager. Before the 2010-2011 season, Simpson followed his father again, to Stockport County. Born in Oxford, Simpson is the son of former Manchester City football player Paul Simpson.
Career
Shrewsbury Town
Simpson started in the Blackburn Rovers academy, but wasn"t offered a professional contract by Rovers, and joined Shrewsbury Town on a one-year deal. He made a total of 20 appearances over the course of the season, winning the club"s young player of the year award. Following his father"s sacking as manager, he was released on 14 May 2010.
Stockport County
After trialling with Carlisle United, Morecambe, Wrexham and Tranmere Rovers in pre-season, on 3 September 2010 he signed Stockport County.
In May 2011 he was informed that he would not be offered a contract by the club for the 2011-2012 season. = Hyde loan On 30 March 2011, he joined Hyde on a month"s loan deal.
He made his debut for the club on the same day as a substitute as his new club lost to Eastwood Town. Workington
In August 2011, he signed for Conference North side Workington, making his debut as a substitute in a 2–1 defeat to Boston United on the opening day of the 2011-2012 season.
He scored his first goal for Workington against Stalybridge Celtic on 23 August 2011.
