Joined Kurdish Democratic Party (KDP), 1947, founder, leader KDP's Kurdistan Students Union, central committee member, 1951, head, 1960—1966. Co-founder, secretary general Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, since 1975. Member Interim Iraq Governing Council, 2003—2005.

President Republic of Iraq, Baghdad, since 2005. Commander Iraqi army, 1959.
