After graduating with first class honours from Warwick University, Anderson trained at the Actors" Studio (Master of Fine Arts) in New York City.

He has since had roles for television, the stage and independent film. On 19 May 2009, it was announced that Anderson would be joining the cast of Holby City as student doctor Oliver Valentine. He left the cast in 2013.
lieutenant was then announced on October 30th 2014 that he had returned to the cast of Holby City.
