Background
He was the son of the Review James Bond (died 1762), a minister at Corboy in County Longford by his wife Catherine, daughter of the Review Thomas Wensley, of Lifford, County Donegal.

Career
Bond sat in the Irish House of Commons as Member for Naas from 1790 to 1797, and on 21 January 1794 he was created a baronet, of Coolamber in County Longford, in the Baronetage of Ireland.
