Bones received a J. Frank Dobie Fellowship of Residence in Austin (1972-73) and a Corporation for Public Broadcasting Fellowship in Dallas to produce the KERA-TV series Images and Memories (1970-71). In addition to that eight-part series, he worked on the KTBC-TV show North Padre Island in Austin in 1970.
He worked in color, using a 4 x 5 view camera and producing dye transfer prints. His main subject was details of nature.
