He was a right-handed batsman and leg-break bowler who played for Kent. He was born in Folkestone. Howgego made a single first-class appearance for the team, during the 1977 season, having represented the Second XI during 1975 and 1976.
Howgego made two appearances for Marylebone Cricket Club in 1979 and 1980.
