Career
Entered Navy as Assistant Engineer, 1861. Served with distinction through all ranks in engineering branch up to time of retirement, 1901. After that specially employed at the Admiralty conducting experimental investigations on oil fuel, north country coal, etc. Justice of the Peace for Portsmouth; Chief Inspector of Machinery Royal Navy (retired).
