He acquired a formal education in parochial schools in Louisiana, and at Galveston, Texas.
Mr. O'Connor went to Austin, Texas while still in his teens, and received his architectural training in local offices principally under a Mr. Watson. During that period he designed and supervised erection of the main building on the Campus of the University of Texas (no longer standing), buildings for the State School for the Deaf, and numerous residences in Austin. Mr. O'Connor was also architect of buildings for a State Epileptic Colony at Abilene, Texas, which was under erection at the time or his death.
