Since the 1980s, Orr has been an avid wine-collector and has participated in several wine auctions. From 1997 to 1998 Orr was in a relationship with Farrah Fawcett. In October 1998, James Orr was sentenced to three years probation for assaulting Fawcett in January of that year.
A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge ordered him to perform 100 hours of community service, attend a batterer"s counseling program and pay $500 to a domestic violence fund.
